Revision 3.2 – November 4, 2007
Field 1 is the field immediately behind the indoor fields. Field 2 is the field closest to the tennis courts. The white dotted lines are the sidelines in the middle of the large field. All other out of bounds lines are the solid yellow lines. Each team will play with six field players and a goalie. Substitutions may be made on the fly, but the player coming off the field must be off before the player coming on the field may enter. That player must enter from the same point of the field as the player exiting the field. Games are 40 minutes long. If a team requests it, the teams will switch sides at the first stoppage in play after the 20 minute mark. This will only be done if there is an advantage to be playing in a particular direction (i.e., wind or the sun is in the goalie’s eyes). Games that start late will be cut in time so that the next game starts on time. It is the responsibility of the teams to be ready to play right away. If both teams are ready to play right away, they may ask the referee to start the game right away in order to get more than 40 minutes of playing time. All teams are to supply two game balls each week.
For balls that go into the woods, the player SHOOTING the ball must go and get the ball, not the goalie or the defensive team. A different ball may be put into play right away and the player retrieving the ball may be substituted for, but the ball must be retrieved before that player is allowed to return to the game. There are no slide tackles. Slide tackles are considered dangerous play. The other team will be awarded an indirect kick. Goalkeeper distributions are the same as the indoor leagues: the goalie may not throw, punt or drop kick the ball in the air past the middle of the field. The ball must first hit a player or the ground. The goalie may place the ball on the ground and play it as a field player would. In this case, the goalie may play it beyond the midfield line. There is no offsides rule. Goalkeeper obstruction however will be strictly enforced. Standard throw in, corner kick and goal kick rules apply. For fouls and other restarts, standard outdoor rules will apply with regard to direct kicks vs. indirect kicks. Opponents must be at least 10 yards away on all restarts. Penalty kicks will be taken from 12 yards away. All other field players must be behind the ball on a penalty kick. Kickoffs may go in any direction. Yellow and red cards will be issued as necessary. A player issued a yellow card will be required to leave the field for two minutes. That player may be substituted for. Referees have the right to give players a “time out” for bad behavior. A player receiving two yellow cards (or a red card) will be removed from the game and may not be substituted for. That player will not be allowed to play in the team’s following game.
ADULT CO-ED LEAGUES: Teams must have a minimum of two females on the field at all times. If
a team does not have two females, they must play shorthanded.
PLAYOFF GAMES: Playoff games will be 18 minutes long. In the event that a game is still tied
at the end of regulation, there will be a 4v4 golden goal playoff. Teams may not have a goalie
during the extra time. The first team to score wins. For the adult co-ed league, teams must have
a minum of one female on the field during overtime. If a penalty kick is called during extra
time, the defending team may have a player stand in goal. The player in goal may use his hands
to shot on the initial shot only. Play starts with a drop ball.
